Yamaha is all geared up to create a big splash in the Indian two-wheeler market today by launching the highly anticipated Yamaha XSR 155 and Yamaha Nmax 155. By virtue of their premium design, advanced engineering, and strong brand heritage, both these models have generated excitement among enthusiasts in advance. With these launches, Yamaha seeks to tap into the increasing demand for lifestyle-oriented motorcycles and sporty maxi-scooters in the 150–160cc segment.
Yamaha XSR 155: Alongside the XSR 155, Yamaha is also expected to launch the Nmax 155, a premium maxi-scooter that will cater to urban commuters seeking comfort, convenience, and performance in one package. The Nmax 155 is based on the Yamaha Aerox 155, which is already sold in India and known for its sporty appeal.
The Nmax 155 made its first Indian appearance at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year, where it drew significant attention for its muscular design, comfortable seating, and advanced features. With new competitors such as the Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 150 entering the segment, Yamaha’s move to introduce the Nmax 155 comes at just the right time.
Powering the Nmax 155 is the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine from the R15 and Aerox, but it’s tuned differently for smoother performance and better efficiency. It delivers 14.9bhp and 14.4Nm of torque, paired with a CVT automatic transmission, making it ideal for effortless city rides and highway cruising.

One of Yamaha’s biggest advantages lies in its local manufacturing capabilities. Since both the R15 and Aerox 155 are already produced in India, the localization of the XSR 155 and Nmax 155 should be relatively seamless. This could help Yamaha price both models competitively while ensuring a steady supply of parts and accessories.
Moreover, the Indian two-wheeler market has evolved rapidly in recent years. Riders are now looking for premium, performance-oriented, and lifestyle-focused machines that reflect their personality and provide a superior riding experience. Yamaha’s decision to introduce these two models aligns perfectly with this trend.
